I shared this tip a few years ago, but it seems like the perfect time for a little reminder. With August swiftly coming to an end and back-to-school right around the corner, I’m starting to look forward to fall. I’m almost ready for scarves and boots and the crunch of falling leaves… but not quite yet.
In Maryland, we still have a few weeks of hot weather to get through before the cooler fall days (and nights). Which means now is the perfect time to be proactive with your summer clothing!
This is the time of year that I go through my closet and gather together all the clothes that scream summer. This would be anything in super lightweight fabric, bright colored dresses, and those skirts that only look good with bare legs and sandals.
I take those summery items and I hang them right in the front of my closet so that they are the first thing I see when I’m reaching for an outfit. That way, I can give them all a last hurrah before the weather changes and I pack them away for another year.
Here are a few outfits that will soon be packed away:
In addition to giving me a chance to do one last wear of my summery favorites, this is also a great opportunity to pull those items that I keep avoiding and get them out of my closet. Whether they get handed off to friends, listed in my Poshmark closet, or go into my thrift donation bag, they’re outta here!
The change of seasons is also a fantastic time to do a little wardrobe upkeep. See my favorite Wardrobe Upkeep tips here.
So, this could be called a summary of your summery. Or, a summery summary! Couldn’t help myself.
Lol — totally a summery summary!
