Clothing Purge Report: April, May, June

It’s Clothing Purge Report time again. Rather than just showing you what I purchase, I also like to show you what items leave my house and how I sell or donate them.

First a quick reminder… here’s my criteria for where I sell:

  • Poshmark/eBay: items that are in perfect condition.
  • My Instagram page: items that are in perfect or near perfect condition. I’ll typically post a collage of what I’ve listed elsewhere.
  • Facebook Sale Groups: items that are in perfect or near perfect condition in specific brands, such as Anthropologie, Boden, and Stitch Fix.
  • Donate to Thrift Stores: items in good condition or showing wear.

After my last Clothing Purge Report where I sold just ONE item for $25, I didn’t have high hopes for April, May and June. However, I was pleasantly surprised that people started shopping my Poshmark closet again. I tried to help things along by sharing my items and accepting reasonable offers, even when they felt awfully low. The point is to clean out my closet though, so even a little less money is a bonus!

Here is what I sold:

  • Velvet and sheer kimono robe, $16
  • Sam Edelman sandals, $22
  • Cobb Hill sandals, $16
  • Loft romper, $15
  • UGG slippers, $45
  • Loft cardigan, $19
  • Madewell cardigan, $20
  • Halogen wrap midi dress, $40
  • UGG hoodie, $22

Everything had just been sitting in my closet unworn, so I’m happy to send each item to a new home for someone else to enjoy.

I sold 9 items for a total of $215 before Poshmark fees (20%).

Since some sales were finally coming through, I also took some time to add more items to my Poshmark closet. I noticed that some people have listed beauty items, so I’m planning to go through my stash and add a few more things soon.

I also had a huge clean-out of Jack’s closet and donated a couple bags full of clothes to the local thrift store. For Jack, unless something is in perfect and unworn condition I usually don’t bother listing it for sale. The exceptions are some of his nice Under Armour/Nike pants (he grows out of them within 6 months), a couple jackets, Halloween costumes, and cute backpacks.
