Whenever I go to TJ Maxx, I typically have a list of things I’m looking for. And whenever I check out at TJ Maxx and the salesperson asks me if I found everything I needed; I’m tempted to answer “I didn’t need ANY of this stuff!” But, that’s the beauty of TJ Maxx (or Marshalls, or Homegoods… you know what I mean).
It’s not up to you to ask TJ Maxx for what YOU want. It’s up to TJ Maxx to give you what you NEED.
Me
Or maybe random crap. Whatever. All I know is what I come out with is typically NOT what I went in for!
Anywho, I thought it would be fun to take a look at what ended up in my shopping cart on a recent TJ Maxx trip.
On my list of things I was looking for:
- A 2020/2021 planner (ideally from August 2020 – December 2021)
- An Ottoman
- Medium swim/wicking shirts for Jack
- Measuring cups
- Water guns
And here is what I came home with…
YES, I fulfilled my task of Jack shirts! I bought: a Nike swim/wicking shirt and shorts set for Jack, on clearance for $12.00, an Adidas swim/wicking shirt for Jack, $9.99, and a orange Nike swim shirt for Jack, on clearance for $6. Apparently Jack will be doing a lot of ‘Just Doing It’…
A Farberware 3-pack of Pot & Pan protectors for $4.99. I didn’t even know this was a thing! I typically stick some old dish towels in my pots and pans cabinet to keep them from getting all scratched up, but these are much better.
Shea Moisture African Black Soap Clarifying Mud Mask for $4.99. Yeah, I totally didn’t need this. IMPULSE BUY! And apparently it is an impulse I should have ignored…I tried it out the other night and when I washed it off my face was BRIGHT RED. It looked like I had sunburn with a very noticeable line showing exactly where the mask sat on my face. I did a little googling and there are a ton of complaints about this same issue. So, if you see this mud mask DON’T buy it!
Measuring Cups set. Our old plastic measuring cup set has been around for probably 20+ years and it was looking stained and dirty. This new one is pink with white speckles and totally worth the price of $9.99 to me just due to the cuteness factor! Also, it was totally on my list.
I found this pretty little box in a clearance aisle and it was originally $25 and marked down a bunch of times to just $6. Do I need it? Nope. Is it so pretty that I’m going to find something to put in it? Heck yeah!
While standing in line — it snakes around to keep everyone socially distanced — they totally got me with their display of socks. I thought Travis might be running low on socks, so I picked up a couple pairs. And I was totally right (see, TJ Maxx strikes again) because Travis was super appreciative when I brought them home. Yeah, that’s right… I keep our marriage spicy with gifts of socks!
Lastly, I picked up three new candles for $9.99 each. I LOVE DW Home candles and when I saw these, I threw them in my cart like I was competing on Supermarket Sweep. Not only do they burn clean and smell wonderful, the jars are so pretty that when they are all used up I clean them out and use them around the house. I just recently repurposed one as a toothbrush holder in our bathroom and I have lots more ideas.
Do you go into TJ Maxx needing one thing and coming out with five other random things too?
It’s time for a new Homegoods browze. Last time I went in that place, I came out with all sorts of things I never thought I needed! T.J. Maxx, I am not sure where it is. We had one, but it is no longer. I know there’s a new one, maybe I will look for it. I alwaysfound original things there, but you must be ready to not see these items again. They may only be there once! So, don’t get too happy with a find. Nice store, though.
I always enjoy seeing what you buy at stores. You are a honey lover! I repurpose jars, too. I like the Oui yogurt jars. You can put votives in them, and use them as a decoration down the middle of a table, or just put them here and there. They are really cute!
Have a great day! Stay safe.
