Reviewing FabFitFun: The Summer 2017 Box Reveal

I’ve talked about the FabFitFun box before and it is actually the only subscription box I still receive on a regular basis. After really loving the Fall 2016 box and the Spring 2017 box, I was a little disappointed in the Summer box.

With that being said, I think it’s more my fault then their fault. I joined a couple FabFitFun trading pages (where people trade their unwanted items from each box) and now instead of just enjoying what I receive in a box, I actually think about whether each item is worth it more to me to keep… or to trade for something I’d rather have.

Dumb, I know.

Anyways, let’s check out what was in the Summer FabFitFun box:

  • Michael Stars Ruana
  • BKR 500ML Bottle

  • Eau Thermale Avene Ultra-Light Hydrating Sunscreen Lotion, SPF 50+
  • Juice Beauty Smoothing Eye Concentrate

  • Kris Nations Mystic Bar Necklace
  • Cargo Cosmetics Picture Perfect Highlighter in Bronze

This month, they had us personalize our box with two choices. We were asked to pick between “traveler”, “artist” or “chef” for the first choice. I picked traveler, so I received the travel set of a passport cover and luggage tag set. Had I known what the choices were, I would have picked “chef” because they received a Himalayan Pink Salt Kit which is super cool.

The second choice was between “fitness” or “beauty” and I picked fitness. The fitness item was the special massage oil, which I’m okay with:

As I mentioned, I’m on a couple trading sites and it really helps make up for the fact that I don’t love this box. The only two items I was really into were the glass water bottle and the SPF, everything else was just kind of ‘eh’ for me. I did trade one of my items for the pink salt kit, so that worked out quite well.

All in all, this box was kind of a bummer for me. However, I’ve totally LOVED every other box that I’ve gotten from them, so I’m keeping an open mind and looking forward to the Fall 2017 box!

Did you receive the Summer FabFitFun box? What was your favorite item?

Reviewing FabFitFun: The Spring 2017 Box Reveal and a $10 off code

I just received my Spring Box from FabFitFun and I think they really knocked it out of the park. I’ve let most of my subscription boxes go, and at this point only have Birchbox and FabFitFun… but I don’t regret cutting back a bit when they are full of such wonderful surprises!

Before we get into what was in my spring box, here’s a quick overview of FabFitFun:

A Look Inside my Spring 2017 FabFitFun Box:

First off, how pretty is the actual box?! I’m planning to keep this one and use it for something. I’m not quite sure what though… any ideas?

Here’s what is inside:

Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative leave-in conditioning spray, $20
This ultra-lightweight spray is fortified with a unique blend of rosehip, argan and coconut oils to improve hair’s softness strength and moisture levels, while acting as a barrier against heat. I have long, color-treated hair, so I basically use some sort of detangler/protecting spray or oil each time I wash my hair. The one doesn’t do so well as a detangler, but it does smell very nice. I’ll use it more as a heat protector before I blow dry.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator, $79
I was really excited to receive this exfoliator in my box. The formula contains aluminum oxide crystals, lactic acid , and smoothing botanicals to polish away dead cells and leave you with bright, smooth, healthy-looking skin. I love the way that this feels when you rub it into your skin and it also has a really nice lemony scent. This is such a great luxury item to include!

Gypsy 05 Roundie, $50

Source: Gypsy05.com

I was really excited about this roundie and it doesn’t disappoint at all in person. It’s a large round cotton blanket that has a ton of uses – you can take it to the beach (which I will), wear it as a sarong (I’ll do that too), hang it on a wall as décor, use it for a picnic blanket and so much more. I love the design that I received and I can’t wait to throw it in my beach bag to use this summer! You can find my exact roundie on the Gypsy05 website here.

Milly Zip Pouch, $45
I received the “Slay All Day” pouch in my box, but there were a few options including “Resting Beach Face”, “Haute Mess” and “Beach Please”. I would have preferred one of the other bags, so I went ahead and traded this one on the FabFitFun trading Facebook page.

Karuna Hydrating+ Face Mask, $28
I love a good face mask and I’m glad that this super hydrating version was included in the box. It is specifically for dry, dull, dehydrated skin and is supposed to improve hydration 40% after just one use. The box contains 4 individually wrapped masks and you are supposed to use them once a week.

RealHer Lip Kit, $48
This lip kit is made from natural ingredients and includes a liquid lipstick, plumping lip gloss and lip liner. Out of the entire box, this was the only item I wasn’t really excited about since I typically stick with chapstick and one particular kind of lip color. I’m planning to trade this one on the FabFitFun trading boards too and will hopefully end up with something I’ll use much more!

Deborah Lippman Nail Polish Set, $19
This set of two nail polishes are pretty pastel shades for spring. I’m not sure if I’ll use this one myself or add it to my ‘give away to my sister’s pile.’ I have so many nail polishes that I barely use and tend to stick more with orange-red shades.

Emerald DUV “Joshua Tree” Cage Bracelet, $80

For the first time, FabFitFun let monthly subscribers choose between two jewelry items and pick either this bracelet, or a set of earrings/ear crawlers. I basically never change my earrings, so I was happy to be able to choose the bracelet. The cage bracelet was inspired by the vibrant and distinctive nature of the West Coast and was handcrafted. I absolutely love its simple design and will definitely wear it both alone and stacked with some of my leather wrap bracelets. This is one of my favorite items in the box… it’s something I totally love but never would have picked out for myself.

Bonus Sponsored Items
Bonus items aren’t counted towards the value of the box, but are just thrown in by sponsors to introduce you to their products. This month we received Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails gummys. I’ve been taking them for the last few days and like the flavor.

The total value of everything in the Spring FabFitFun box is: $369. I was absolutely pleased by this box and it may be one of my favorite boxes I’ve ever received from my subscription. Right now, I’m thinking my favorite items are: the Gypsie 05 roundie, the Dr. Brant exfoliator and the cage bracelet.

Reviewing FabFitFun: the Fall Box Reveal, a $10 off code & a Favorites Update

I just received my fifth box from FabFitFun and I can easily say that it is my favorite box from them so far! Not the other boxes haven’t been great, but this one is like they tackled fall, wrapped it up, and sent to my house.

About FabFitFun
The FabFitFun boxes come on a quarterly basis and cost $49.99 each. It is a bit more expensive than other subscription boxes I’ve tried, but there is usually at least one item that makes it worth it for me. If you want to sign up, here is a special $10 off link for you to use on your first box.

Before I get into my Fall Box Reveal, here are some quickie links to previous boxes and a note about what I’m still loving from each:

Previous Boxes: Quick Favorites Update
Summer 2016 Reveal – Absolute favorite thing from the box I use all the time: OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream. This one was a sleeper because I didn’t even know I needed it until I started using it. Now, I smooth it on almost every night before I go to sleep.

Spring 2016 RevealAbsolute favorite thing from the box I use all the time: Tag Necklace from Jook & Nona. I wear my “Love” necklace ALL THE TIME and it is one of my favorites. Close runner-ups are the Bath Bomb Trinity (Jack’s favorite to use, my favorite to smell while I’m snuggling him after a bath) and the Shaving Emulation Lotion by HelloLegs (this has totally replaced my shaving gel). I’ve purchased both of these again after finishing them both.

Fall 2015 RevealAbsolute favorite thing from the box I use all the time: FabFitFun x Tappan Collective Umbrella. This umbrella lives in my car for unexpected rainstorms. It’s really cute and also folds up really small so I can stick it in my purse. Fun fact, my husband took my truck to work today so he could get it checked out and left me both my sunglasses and this umbrella on the front table, just in case I need them. So thoughtful!

Summer 2015 RevealAbsolute favorite thing from the box I use all the time: Gorge “I’ll make you look amazing” Daily Spray. I love this leave-in conditioner/protector spray that I’ve actually ordered two more bottles since I received my first one! Great stuff and I think it keeps my color looking fresh longer.

A Look Inside my Fall 2016 FabFitFun Box:

fabfitfun-fall-1a

Before we even look inside the box, the BOX is its own activity. The inside and outside are both designed to color and Jack was thrilled when I gave it to him. He already spent over an hour on it last night!

fabfitfun-fall-2

FabFitFun Coloring Book & Colored Pencils, $14
In addition to the box, they also included a coloring book and coloring pencils too. The book I received is the “Nature Coloring Book” and it’s the perfect size for me to take on our upcoming vacation for some in-flight entertainment.

fabfitfun-fall-9

Modcloth Loch & Key Scarf, $34.99
This beautiful blanket scarf is super-sized at 55” x 55” super-soft too. I love the black plaid color scheme and can definitely see getting a lot of wear out of this. You can buy the scarf directly from Modcloth here. However, it’s only $15 more to buy the entire FabFitFun box. I was originally thinking of gifting this… but then I tried it on to do a sneak peek yesterday and the combo of the softness and great smell (from the rest of the box contents) convinced me to keep it for myself!

fabfitfun-fall-4

The Created Co. To-Go Coffee Mug, $19
There were two different versions of this mug sent out and I received the one that says “Joy comes in the morning” Not only is it super cute, but Created Co. donates 10% of their profits to charity:water’s mission to bring clean and save drinking water to those in need.

fabfitfun-fall-3

Skin Laundry Restoring Night Serum, $50
This restoring night serum contains a combination of antioxidants, vitamins, natural extracts and amino acids to help visibly improve skin texture, firmness and elasticity while you are sleeping. The 1 ounce bottle will last me for a really long time, so I’m really happy to get this one to try out.

Mullein & Sparrow Mini French Lavender Body Oil, $18
I’m really picky about scents and I absolutely love the soft lavender small of this body oil. You an either use it as a daily moisturizer, a massage oil or pour a little in your bath for a calming soak.

fabfitfun-fall-7

The Browgal Clear, Water-Resistant Eyebrow Gel, $20
This eyebrow gel is to be used on top of your pencil or powder to help it seal and give it extra staying power. I don’t really have unruly brows, but was interested to see whether it would give me more volume like it claimed. Unfortunately, once I swiped it over my brows as instructed it felt like I had brushed some rubber cement on them. I didn’t like it at all and pretty much washed it off as soon as it dried!

fabfitfun-fall-8

Spongelle Bulgarian Rose Body Wash Infused Buffer, $16
Jack is such a little bath diva and totally already stole this one from me. He loves the flower shape of the sponge and both of us love the scent left on his skin after he gets scrubbed down!

fabfitfun-fall-5

Pure Cosmetics Nude Collection Eyeshadow Palette, $50
This eye shadow palette is really fantastic. It has 12 wearable shades that are right in my wheelhouse (what can I say, I’m a bronze-kinda girl). I can’t wait to try them out!

fabfitfun-fall-6

Toesox Toeless Fitness Socks, $18
I wasn’t really sure what I was going to use these socks for, since if I do yoga or Pilates I’m in my living room and don’t tend to slip around. Then I saw that another blogger suggested them for winter pedicures – to keep the rest of your foot warm while you paint your toenails – and I totally love that idea.

Bonus Sponsored Items
Bonus items aren’t counted towards the value of the box, but are just thrown in by sponsors to introduce you to their products. This month we received Cottonelle Flushable Cleansing Cloths and Secret Clear Gel antiperspirant. They both came at the perfect time to be added to our suitcases for our trip!

The total value of everything in the Fall FabFitFun box is: $239.99. As I said before, this box is one of the best I’ve received and I’m really excited about a bunch of the items. Right now, I’m thinking my favorite items are: the scarf, the coffee mug, the lavender body oil, the spongelle body wash buffer and the skin serum. This box was totally a winner!!
