My Style: February Favorite Outfits

Oh look how fancy we are with an extra day in February! Of course even with the extra 24 hours, this month flew by so quickly and I’m already counting down the moments until spring.

Winter tends to get a little boring, especially when it’s cold and snowy. Or rainy. So I decided to mix it up a little this month and participate in one of those Instagram style challenges. I did the #wearwhatwherefebruary Style Challenge and I LOVED it. By having a style goal for each day it really got me out of my rut and helped me look at my closet in a whole new way.

February style challange

I really feel like I rocked a few of the challenges, like the Band of Rose Gold, Candy Heart Hues, and Pink Passion Fashion.

I went through my February pictures and picked three of my favorite outfits to share with you. If you see something you like, I’ve made it easy for you to steal my style with links for each item, as well as some similar styles at different price points. If you want to check out previous My Style posts, you can find them here.

Oh and I did a little video with ALL my looks here:
{warning, there is music if you’re trying to pretend you’re working…}

Look #1: Animal Print for the Office

My Style Feb - outfit 1

The Blouse
I seem to have a ton of printed blouses in my closet, but hardly any solids… especially solids that aren’t black! I bought this navy blouse from Loft last year and it is exactly what I hoped it would be – it fits my bust, doesn’t get all wrinkly by the end of the day and looks professional with a pencil skirt. What’s not to love?! This year Loft has it in black, teal cloud and fireball red. It’s currently $49.50 but I feel like they always have sales. I do suggest you try it on in a store (or order two sizes) because while I’m usually a large in tops, the medium fit me perfectly.

The Skirt
When I saw this skirt in the store I thought that it was so ‘not me’ but decided to try it on anyways because it is stretchy and it was on super sale. What can I say, I’m a bargain hunter through and through. I was surprised that I actually like this more neutral version of animal print! This skirt is long gone, but I found a couple similar ones – this one is on super clearance at Lord & Taylor but in very limited sizes and this one is in a stretchy ‘scuba’ fabric for $40!

The Boots
These knee-high boots from Naturalizer are worn to death from November to March each year and next Fall I’m certainly going to have to replace them (after a few years they are starting to show their age). If I were styling this outfit today, I’d switch them out for a pair of booties like these from Franco Sarto or this similar pair from Rocket Dog for less than $30.

Look #2: Pink & Stripy

My Style Feb - outfit 2

The Dress
I normally don’t wear this dress in the winter, but it seemed appropriate for the day’s ‘Pink Passion Fashion’ prompt so I grabbed it from my other closet and winterized it. Winterizing a summer dress is a great trick to get more wear out of your clothes, so I found some spring dresses that you can start wearing now with tights, or pair with strappy sandals in a few months. This adorable Ottoman Flare dress in sangria has the same kind of ‘feel’ as the one I’m wearing, but I also really like this jersey fit-and-flare dress from Old Navy.

The Sweater
I love a good striped cardigan and it’s a super easy way to add interested to an otherwise boring outfit. Plain tee and jeans… add a striped cardigan. Solid colored dress… boom, striped cardigan! I bought this one from Banana Republic around the time that Jack was born and it’s still in great shape. I did a little search and found a couple similar sweaters to try – this one from Lands End would look great with pretty much everything but I also really like this slouchy version from ASOS.

The Booties
AHH, my booties. I’m so in love with these booties and shared the story behind them on my Instagram page a couple weeks ago. It doesn’t look like they have the black version online, but if you live near a Nordstrom Rack I’d highly suggest stopping by to try and find them. They are the perfect height and I’ve worn them for a 12 hour day without my feet hurting. You can find the brown version, which is also super cute, here.

Look #3: A Spin on the Classic Black Suit

My Style Feb - outfit 3

The Blouse
Did I really need another black blouse? Um, probably not. But when I saw this one with ¾ tab sleeves and a lacy top for just $25 I couldn’t resist. It’s sold out online in black, but you can still find the light blue and white versions of my exact top here. There is also an identical tank top version that does still have sizes available in black. Either one is super cute and would mix with a ton of outfits now and all year long.

The Blazer
Sometimes life calls for a suit, but I’m not really a classic suit kinda girl. If you keep to an all-black look you can usually mix in some less traditional pieces and still make it look like a suit. I ended up finding this moto jacket/blazer at Ann Taylor after the holidays when I went in to do a gift exchange. I was super surprised to find such an edgy look at Ann Taylor! I found a couple similar options for you, including this boucle moto blazer from Banana Republic and this version for just $40 (very limited sizes). I’m also loving this brown version to go over some flowy spring dresses.

Bonus Top that I’m Obsessed With Right Now

bonus top

I love this top. I mean LOVE it so much. I ordered it when Anthropologie did one of their ‘everything on sale is an extra 40% off’ sales, figuring that I could return it if it was terrible in person. It is everything I love in a top… sassy and special lace detailing, a super soft and flowy body and a pattern that makes it look one of a kind. Right now there are a few sizes still available if you love it too.

Which look is your favorite? Do you have “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” stuck in your head now?

My Style: January Favorite Outfits

Geez, if I thought I was in sloth mode last month with my holiday break, this month’s snow days have certainly given me a run for my money. I basically wore this sweatshirt for a week straight. No regrets though… not one!

Luckily I put a little effort in earlier in the month and came up with a few favorite outfits to share with you. If you see something you like, I’ve made it easy for you to steal my style with links for each item, as well as some similar styles at different price points. If you want to check out previous My Style posts, you can find them here.

Look #1: Super Soft & Warm

January - My Style 1

The Sweater
On one of my visits to Nordstrom Rack, I passed by a rack, my hand lightly touched this sweater and I was sold. This sweater is SO SOFT that I call it my hugging sweater and I encourage people to come over for a super awkward – yet warm and comfy – hug from me. I bought it in dark gray and then liked it so much that I went back and got it in blue too. They have a few colors/sizes still available on the website here but if you live near a Rack you might have better luck just looking around for the Harlowe & Graham rack. I’m actually wearing the gray version today with my berry-colored skinnies (pic here).

The Pants
Ugh, I am such a broken record with these pants. I mean, what real fashion blogger-type person wears the same darn pants all the time? Whatever, I love them and have FOUR pairs (one still with the tags on, just waiting for its day to shine). It looks like they are all sold out on the Nordstrom Rack website, but they still have them on Amazon here: Democracy Women’s AB Solution and Booty Lift Technology Jegging.

The Boots
These are my trusty Naturalizer Wide Calf boots that I bought before last winter struck. At the time, I was thrilled to finally find a pair of knee-high boots that fit my (apparently) large calves and they have been a winter staple in my closet ever since. I even picked up a brown pair this past fall that I’ve been wearing to death too. Nordstrom Rack’s website hardly has anything from Naturalizer, but here is a similar pair from the Naturalizer website. There are also a ton of really cute riding boot options at DSW. I especially like the Lucky Brand Hanover Riding Boots and the Bandolino Blushe Riding Boots.

The Necklace
You’ve seen this necklace before and you’ll see it again, I picked it up a couple months ago on super clearance from Anthropologie. If you ever need statement jewelry, their clearance section is the BEST and they often have sales for additional money off. Right now I’m waiting for the Moondance Fringe Necklace or the Isemene Tassel Necklace to go on sale!

Look #2: Weekend Snuggles

January - My Style 2

The Top
I received this top in a recent Stitch Fix and finally broke the tags off to wear it a couple weeks ago. I love that the main body of the top is super soft and then it has those contrasting cuffs to add some interest. It reminds me of the Free People lodge top that all the cool girls wear. I’m obsessed with the black version and if it goes on sale that baby will be MINE! Have you seen anything similar for a lower price point?

The Jeans
I received these Kut from the Kloth Mia Skinny Jeans in my January Trendsend box (here’s the post) I love the darker wash and the slim fit… especially that they fit well and don’t give me muffin-top! You can find the exact jeans here.

The Boots
I saw these Uggs Studded Motorcycle boots at Nordstrom Rack time and time again, but they never got down to a price where I was comfortable buying them. So, I checked eBay and totally lucked out on finding a pair for 1/3 of the cost in my size. Heck yeah! If you like the motorcycle boot look, you may like these Vince Camuto’s on sale at Nordstrom for $119 or these Quilted Moto Boots for just $41.

Look #3: Donuts are Always Cool

January - My Style 3

The Socks
These fabulous socks were a gift from my friend Katie at Words for Worms and she made me promise to wear them to my next morning event at Krispy Kreme. You can find them at Target and here is a quickie link to them. Now, bring on the donuts!

My Style: December Favorite Outfits

This month’s My Style post is a little early because I’m looking forward to having some time off work between Christmas and New Year’s. Which means for 11 days straight I’ll be pretty darn low maintenance and may have days where changing from my pajamas to my ‘home yoga pants’ is as fancy as I get.

So, before I morph into sloth mode – or as close as you can get to sloth mode when chilling with a kiddo – let’s look at some of my favorite outfits from the month! If you see something you like, I’ve made it easy for you to steal my style with links for each item, as well as some similar styles at different price points. If you want to check out previous My Style posts, you can find them here.

Look #1: Re-styling a Summer Maxi

December Look 1

The Dress
I’ve never really tried the whole maxi dress for winter look, but after wearing this one I’ll definitely be doing it again. It’s a sneaky way of basically wearing a nightgown/blanket and somehow looking like you’ve put in some effort. To try this look on your own, be sure to start with a maxi dress in more muted/non-summer colors. I found my dress on sale at Anthropologie and it’s still available in a few sizes (I’m wearing a size medium, but usually wear a large). This version in “light blue print” from Old Navy is also pretty darn cute and it’s only $40. (However, I just checked this morning and it’s on SALE!)

The Sweater
You’ve seen it before and you’ll see it again and again and again. What can I say, the J.Crew Factory Clare cardigan is a favorite. If you click over today, it’s on super sale for only $27!

The Boots
One of the reasons I liked doing a maxi dress for winter is that I could ‘toughen it up’ a little with my boots. These are the Valora Sky boots from Clarks in Dark Brown Leather and I pretty much wear them ALL them time because they are so incredibly comfortable and warm!

Look #2: My Current Favorite!

December Look 2

The Blouse
This is my current favorite outfit and the one I’ll most likely throw on for Christmas dinner with the family. The blouse is another Anthropologie sale purchase that I am so glad I made. I love a great polka dot top and this one has some really cool details like a scalloped hem and lacy neckline. As of this morning Anthro only has this version in an XS, but sometimes if you stalk it your size will pop back up. They do have both XS and Large available in white though, which is really pretty. If polka dots are your jam – and why WOULDN’T they be?! – you might like this ruffle sleeve version for less than $12! This candy pink version from Nordstrom would also look pretty great with a ton of different bottoms.

The Sweater
Yup, I’m boring… same sweater as the last look: the J.Crew Factory Clare cardigan.

The Pants
I wish this picture were brighter, but this is the best I can do at 6am when it’s dark outside. These pants are the berry-colored skinny jeans that I talked about in November. I still love them and they still look brand-new even though they are in heavy rotation! They are the Democracy Colored Jeans from Nordstrom Rack and they still have lots of sizes available for less than $40!

The Boots
Speaking of Nordstrom Rack, these boots are another score from there. They are the Naturalizer Joylyn Wide Calf boots in Brown which are still available, but in very limited sizes. They are very similar to the Jordie style on the Naturalizer website and while they are a little pricey, they are currently on sale. Which helps!

Look #3: Feeling the Christmas Spirit

December Look 3

The Dress
I decided to go full-on Christmas spirit one day at work and started with this fit-and-flare black and white dress from my August Fix. It is called the Le Lis Merryn Printed Dress and I can’t find it online anywhere. However, I came across this lace fit-and-flare dress while I was looking and actually like it even better than mine. SO cute with the cut-out back and on sale for $100. This dotted version from Loft is also really pretty and a little more work appropriate.

The Sweater
This sweater is from Loft’s Signature Collection and I bought it last year to see if I’d like it as much as the J.Crew cardigans. So far, it seems to be wearing quite well! You can find it in a ton of colors here and they pretty much always go on sale.

The Boots
These boots are almost the exact same as the brown ones I wore in the last picture, they are just a year older. You can find them at the same links as above, but it seems that the online stores are super limited in sizes right now. Here they are on Nordstrom Rack and the Naturalizer’s website, but if you are out and about you might want to try stopping in to see if there are more styles available.

The Tights
I cannot say it enough, but I LOVE fleece-lined tights. I discovered them a few years ago and since then versions have popped up everywhere. I have a few pairs of these in both the regular tights version and the footless version. I’ve also seen them for less than $10 at TJ Maxx and Marshalls, so next time you’re browsing around be sure to pick up a pair!

Do you have a favorite December look?
